In contrast to boat fenders, you do not attach the jetty fenders to the boat itself, but to the jetty on shore. Mounting them directly on the pier makes sense, for example, if you have a specific berth for your boat. In this way, you protect both the boat and the pier from damage caused by contact and friction when mooring.
It is often almost impossible to moor without scraping the hull against the jetty - e.g. in gusty winds or when you thread your boat into a narrow mooring box. If multiple manoeuvring is necessary in such situations, boat fenders would have to be unhooked practically everywhere on the boat to avoid damage to the ship's side and the jetty! A simple and effective solution is to pad the jetty with dock fenders that fit snugly.
On jetties, pontoons (floating docks) or quay walls, surfaces as well as usually edges and corners need to be insulated. Simple elongated pontoon fenders are screwed to the walls of the pontoon as a buffer. The Tessilmare PVC fender and a three-quarter round PVC pontoon fender similar to a cushion roll offer protection on long edges. The angle fender from Plastimo can be bent to different angles of up to 90 degrees and protects the midship or bow from protruding corners at the jetty. An air-filled corner fender also performs well here.
The 'dockwheel', a round, rolling jetty fender, is also bolted in front of a corner of the jetty. If the boat touches it and brushes against it, it rolls around itself like a wheel. In this way, the rolling dock fender prevents scuffing and scratching of the hull and at the same time protects the corner of the dock. And finally: a great advantage of the jetty fenders is that they remain on the jetty and do not require any storage space on board the ship.
